Hi! I am Viktoriia and I am the chairwoman of the HTH Sustainability Committee The Hague! I joined the committee in 2020 and helped run our Instagram, create our website, make our branded hoodies and many more projects within the school.

I believe that HTH has a great role to play in creating a standard for sustainable hospitality practices in business and education, and I hope that we can be the driver of that change!

Lisa Swart

I am Lisa Swart and I am the chairwoman of the HTH Sustainability Committee Amsterdam! I am a fully dutch student in the second-phase student of Hotelschool The Hague in Amsterdam, I became passionate about the environment when, about 3 years ago, I saw on which day earth-overshoot day would be if everyone lived as we do in the Netherlands. From then I changed my lifestyle and later with this became also my proud membership of The Sustainability Committee. My biggest drive to do this is that I want future generations to able to live on earth just as beautiful as the one I have had.

Claudia Kalonji

My name is Claudia Kalonji and I’m from Germany. I joined the sustainability committee because I believe in making changes as an individual to make sure generations after us will have a planet to live on. Over the last decades a lot of people me included, got very comfortable with their way of living and it’s time to make a change. This planet doesn’t need us, it can very well function without us. However, we need this planet to live so we should treat it with respect.

My motivation to join the sustainability committee was mainly because I want to gain more knowledge about how to be more sustainable. With the goal of really making a change in the near future while working in de industry or when doing business.
However, as of right now I think it is important to create more awareness about the impact certain things have on the environment. In the outside world but especially within HTH.

Hey I am Catherine, I am 23 years old and I am from Luxembourg. Currently I am doing my Minor in guest experience during my 4th year at HTH.

In general I have always cared about the environment since it was something that was valued in my home, so I joined the sustainability committee not too long ago to be able to make a change, raise awareness and just contribute to a healthy planet wherever I can.

I am German and Swiss. I have to thank my older sister for my interest in sustainability and the environment. I remember when we were younger she came home from school one day and announced that she was going to be vegetarian because it’s better for our planet. At first, I shrugged this off but as I grew older I started to understand that we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children. This strikes a chord with me and so I try to make sustainable choices wherever possible. This is also why I wanted to be part of the HTH Sustainability Committee. My aim is not to force our community to be more sustainable but rather to make people understand how they can make minimal adaptations to their lifestyles for the greater good of our friends and families and the generations still to come.

Elodie van Walbeek

My name is Elodie van Walbeek, I’m a Dutch student and started my HTH Hague journey in February 2022.
As someone who has been intrigued by documentaries since I was young, I was swiftly introduced to the fact that this world will need to be more sustainable in order to solve its problematic future. Seeing that sustainability is becoming more acknowledged and given a role of importance is something I am happy to see, yet there are always improvement points. The Sustainability Committee at Hotelschool The Hague, Amsterdam, has given me the opportunity to actively undertake action for a more sustainable future. My motivation to do this is the fact that sustainability is the key to a better future, a good quality of life, ecosystems, and much more. It is a long-term outlook for any company that wants a realistic view of its future.

Hey there! My name is Tanika van Hoop, and I started HTH in February 2022. I was born and raised in Curaçao. I am eager to aid in further developing the eco-conscious community within HTH, this is why I joined The Sustainability Committee. In my last two years of high school, I was on the board of Youth For Climate Curaçao. This position broadened my knowledge of living a more environmentally friendly lifestyle. I am motivated to develop my knowledge and skills further and hope to share this with our upcoming generation.
Cheers to a future of green hospitality!

Aleksandra Maltceva

Hi, hello! My name is Aleksandra and I am one of the fresh starters in the Sustainability Club of Amsterdam. I would like to share that I am very proud to be a Hotelschool student. One of the reasons being is that HTH educates on the importance of being mindful of the changing environment and teaches us to adapt. Looking at our industry's global impact makes me realize how much more potential there is for us, Hospitality students, to be the big change in the future. This year I decided to start with myself, that is how I started my minimalist becoming journey,  This inspired me to join the Club, so I could help to support the green initiatives of our university. See you at HTH!

Hi everyone! I’m Silvia and I’m from Italy. I joined the Sustainability Committee because when I was Green Chef during MO, I had the opportunity to come up with sustainable initiatives for the Mangerie, and I was very excited to bring a positive change. Therefore, I want to expand these initiatives to Hotelschool The Hague in general and contribute my efforts to make it a more sustainable place. Since I started HTH, I have learned a lot about sustainability and I am becoming very interested in the subject and I would like to explore it further.
